I'll be at Haven today working with a group from VISA to build two new raised beds for our vegetable garden.

I'll post photos later.

Welcome to the New Beginnings Organic Garden

2006: Amy Wright created and implemented the New Beginnings Garden at Shelter Network’s Haven Family House in Menlo Park. She brought together many willing donors and volunteers to contribute materials and time to build the garden. Her persistence has netted more than $90,000 of in-kind donations and more than 900 volunteer hours. The garden supplies fresh fruits and vegetables for all of Shelter Network’s residents, who are temporarily without permanent housing, and offers garden maintenance training to interested residents.

: Liisa: Outside of my garden duties at home I have been asked to take the lead in revitalizing the
New Beginnings Organic Garden A few years ago Haven Family House was blessed with a vegetable garden. The staff has been so busy helping homeless families in the Bay Area that they haven't been able to devote much time to keep the garden going. Since my sister is the Facilities Manager, among other titles, she has asked me to help them get back on track.

I started posting on the Haven Family House project on my personal garden blog but have decided the garden deserves a blog of it's own.  Future updates on the project will be posted here.
I hope you'll continue to follow our journey to feed the homeless in San Mateo County. Better yet I hope you'll join us.

Below are links to posts on my blog that reference the Haven project.
